Our Signature Textiles

Our Signature Textiles

Unique textiles, distinguishable prints, the fusion of fashion and classic themes, the quest for the ultimate bikini, these are the elements that have established Tigerlily as a leader in premium swimwear, beachwear and ready-to-wear.

At the heart of this, ethical sourcing, sustainability and knowing our makers have become an integral part of who we are as a brand.

We are 100% committed to making educated change towards better practices and conditions for the industry we love so much.

Featuring signature Tigerlily paisleys, florals and geometrics, inspired from our travels around the globe; from the Mediterranean to traditional Indian textiles with beautiful border trims. We digitally print many of our vibrant prints across our Italian recycled lycra and sand washed silk yarns.

Printing

As a brand renowned for signature textile prints, we choose our printing mills based on the highest quality finishes. Our mills in China, feature state of the art processes and printing machinery engineered in Italy, Germany & Switzerland.

Our primary swimwear mill for the past 12 years is a member of the Zero discharge of hazardous chemicals (ZDHC) consortium. Our mill engages in environmentally responsible practices in regards to printing and sustainable treatment of waste off-run from the screen-printing process, ensuring no chemicals are entering the waterways surrounding our factories.

We have also proudly developed and refined highly technical engineered printing techniques to limit waste of our finished printed fabrics.

Our custom designs are exposed on to screens, one colour per screen. Then the screens are re-purposed, ready to use again for our new designs again the following season.

Excess Fabrics

Our design approach involves some careful planning around the best usage of our fabrics. Engineering our beautiful prints means we can be as efficient as possible and reduce our wastage and costs. However, at times, there is of course excess! And we love nothing more than to find creative uses for these…If you have set foot in one of our stores you will have seen the eclectic, soft furnishings made from these excess fabrics. We love to use every scrap of these fabrics for cushions, curtains, promotional ‘head-scarfs’ or anything we can think of that works in print! (which is everything in our eyes).

Artwork is often engineered to every pattern piece to avoid wastage and ensure every bikini is as perfect as the next.

Samples arrive at our office constantly and we work meticulously with our printers to ensure optimum print quality and standards. We especially love to add signature embellishments and gold foils to make every piece unique.

Our Relationships

We are so proud of our long-standing relationships (10+ years) with most of our supplier base. Visibility in the supply chain goes far beyond knowing the owners of the factories. Our Management, Design, and Production Teams regularly visit the offices, factories and even some of the mills that produce for Tigerlily (often 4 times yearly). We engage with 10 boutique-midscale factories for 90% of our production.

Factory Audits

We have been conducting 3rd party audits of our factories for over a decade now. In 2015 as part of our growing commitment, we appointed globally recognised auditors, Bureau Veritas, to continue our quest for greater visibility. Bureau Veritas has supported our journey for continual improvement in quality, environmental compliance and social responsibility.Evaluation is based on our code of conduct, containing standards equivalent to SA800 and Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP).

Our Production

Our suppliers are intrinsic to all that we do and these relationships have been built with a shared respect. Our Product Development Team are passionate about improving efficiency throughout the entire process – from design, development, sampling, pre-production and shipment stage. We promote environmental responsibility and are trialling new materials and processes alongside our partners.

Rotary printing is a special technique that we employ for printing our major textile stories ~ the benefits are endless, including less ink wastage, quicker and more accurate results and more colour flexibility.
